Safety at sea is everyone's responsibility. Here are some important rules for safe travel in and around Kvalvåg.
The Sea Sense Rules
- Think safety. Knowledge and planning reduce risk and increase enjoyment.
- Bring necessary equipment. Equipment must be kept in order and easily accessible.
- Respect weather and waters. The boat should only be used in conditions it is designed for.
- Follow the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Provisions on right of way, speed, and navigation lights must be observed.
- Wear a life jacket or flotation device. Flotation equipment is mandatory for everyone on board small boats.
- Be rested and sober. The blood alcohol limit is 0.8 when operating a boat.
- Be considerate. Safety, environment, and well-being are a shared responsibility.
